My story
Coach David Fick
Dad. Runner. Coach. In that order.
From the start line to coaching
I'm David Fick — a husband, dad of two young kids, and a runner who has been chasing finish lines for over a decade.
Running started as a personal challenge and became a way of life. Along the way I've learned that the best training isn't the hardest training — it's the training that fits your life and keeps you healthy enough to show up on race day.
Today I coach runners of all levels, from first-timers to seasoned ultra athletes, helping them train smarter, race better, and enjoy every kilometre.

How I coach
My coaching philosophy
Balance over burnout
I'm a dad to two young children. I know what it means to juggle training with a full life. Every plan I write is built around your reality — not an idealised training week.
Sustainable progress
Big goals take time. I focus on building a base that lasts — consistent, progressive training that keeps you healthy and improving year after year.
Open communication
Your feedback shapes your plan. If something isn't working, we adjust. Coaching is a conversation, not a prescription.
Data-informed, human-led
I use your training data to make smart decisions — but numbers never replace the bigger picture of how you feel, recover, and live.
Beyond the race
Running that fits real life
My two kids are my biggest motivation and my greatest reminder that balance isn't a compromise — it's the whole point.
Some of my proudest moments at the finish line have been with my family waiting there. That's what I want for every athlete I coach: a finish line worth crossing, and people to share it with.
